“I wanted to participate, but when I actually went out to do it, imagining how I would lift up my skirt, I found myself coming up against exactly the taboos that make the idea of this project so powerful: the fear of being seen as a woman, of being vulnerable, of being caught doing something “dirty”. In my mind’s eye it was like laying down a bright-red blanket on the ground. Everyone would see, everyone would know.”
